Field Guide Entry #142
Pondwiffle
Brineborn • The Drowned Deep • 2026 sighting
Appearance
Overlapping sculpted scales in creamy white, coral-orange, and black, with little side fins and an upright fin that he insists improves his aerodynamics.
Known quirks
- Refers to swimming as “low-altitude practice.”
- Checks the wind while completely submerged.
- Has strong opinions about wings for someone without any.
- Tries to perch on lily stems and blames the equipment.
- Cheers every fledgling’s first flight, then quietly takes notes.
Personality notes
- An enthusiastic experimenter with an impressive tolerance for landing face-first.
- Pondwiffle can celebrate someone else’s success without surrendering his own ridiculous ambition.
