Field Guide Entry #104
Grumplewick
Burrowfolk • Meadowvale Pastures • 2026 sighting
Appearance
Substantial, rounded hedgehog form with layered, textured spines that resemble a well-worn sweater. Finished in deep, earthy glaze with soft mossy highlights along the crown.
Wide, generous bowl opening with a glossy interior — built to hold salt, keys, candies, or something you’re saving “for later.”
Known quirks
- Lets out an implied sigh when moved
- Prefers being placed once and left alone forever
- Reacts positively to mugs, lamps, and quiet conversations
- Has never been in a hurry and does not plan to start
Personality notes
- Grumplewick is gentle, steady, and deeply confident that he knows better — even if he doesn’t.
- He’s not grumpy exactly… just selective with his enthusiasm.
- Among the Burrowfolk, he is consulted for advice, ignored immediately, and proven right later.
